Tommy Emmanuel
Australian-born Tommy Emmanuel is widely acknowledged as an international master of the fingerpicking solo acoustic guitar style. At the age of six, he was touring regional Australia with his family band. By 30, he was a rock n’ roll lead guitarist burning up stadiums in Europe. At 44, he became one of five people ever named a Certified Guitar Player by his idol, music icon Chet Atkins. Tommy plays hundreds of sold-out shows in prestigious concert venues all over the US, the UK, Australia and all stops in-between, and collaborates with the greatest musicians, singers and songwriters alive.
Halfway Home
A piece by Tommy Emmanuel for Bert Jansch
“I was so pleased to hop onto the Around the world in 80 plays journey, in the middle of my tour of the West coast of the USA. The project is a wonderful living legacy for Bert. When I was a young whipper-snapper trying to make a living playing the guitar in the 1970s, Bert came out to Australia causing much excitement. I had the distinct honour and pleasure to be the opening act for Bert at a gig at The Kirk in Sydney. Thank you, Bert, for your wonderful music and the influence you have had on millions of people.”
