Avocet
Sam says “I had only recently come across the Avocet album and found it absolutely captivating. I set about transcribing the first movement of the title track, and this is the result. It’s a tour de force as an exploration of DADGAD tuning and arranging for guitar in general. The way the repeated bass figure continues under the main melody as it develops, shifting around the fretboard as it goes, is a lot of fun to play.”
Sam adds “I’ve been a fan of Bert’s for many years. I first saw him live as part of Folk Britannia at the Barbican in 2006 and saw him play with Pentangle at the Royal Festival Hall in 2011, which sadly turned out to be his final public show.”
