Neeka (Ilse Goovaerts) is a singer songwriter from Belgium. She has made five albums in English and is about to release a new one in Dutch. Her music is somewhere in between pop and folk music. In the beginning she listened mainly to American and Canadian singer songwriters (Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Suzanne Vega…). In 1992 she saw Pentangle at the Dranouter Folk Festival and was blown away. Neeka was nominated and invited to Belgium’s premier radio station to perform for ‘Around the world in 80 plays’ at the same session as Frank vander Linden.

Over the years Neeka’s love for Pentangle and English folk music has grown and had a great influence on her own songwriting. She was thrilled to be able to perform with Jacqui Mcshee and Danny Thompson at the Brosella Folk Festival in 2006.
