Mark Woyshner
Born in California, in 1956, Woyshner grew up in a musical family. He works in the field of hydrology and hydrogeology and spends much of his spare time playing guitar, and occasionally gathering in a song circle or performing at an open mic. He has been hugely inspired the music of British guitarists Bert Jansch, John Renbourn, and Davey Graham, as well as local man, Alex de Grassi. Mark lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Bird Song
Mark says “Bert’s Bird Song connects in a poetic sense, Bert’s love of nature which was so prevalent in his life, with his basic human qualities. It allows us to see who we are more clearly. I learned of Bert’s music through the music of John Renbourn. Fast forward three decades, I discovered and attended several John Renbourn Guitar Workshops. The workshop celebrating Bert’s music and life in 2014 at Gilwell Park in the UK was superb. We studied many of Bert’s pieces, his musical origins and career. It was there I learned Bert’s Bird Song”
“During my Cal Berkeley college years in the 1970s, we would travel every chance we could to natural areas of California and the Western United States. It was on the road with these friends that I started listening to Bert and John’s music.”
Mark also recorded Candyman in the Redwood grove.
